Expert Panel on Homelessness among American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians

This document memorializes a panel conversation regarding homelessness for AI/AN and NH people. Individuals representing community-based organizations (CBOs), advocacy groups, the research community, and federal agencies came together to address the problem of homelessness among American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. The expert panel consisted of representatives of each population who shared their observations and experiences with a range of federal partners who have the ability to effect change at federal policy and program levels. The purpose of convening the panel was to help inform SAMHSA and the field about homelessness among American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian (AI/AN/NH) people and to develop recommendations to federal agencies, as well as others who work AI/AN/NH people who are homeless or who strive to prevent homelessness among them.
