NIWRC FY17 On-Site Technical Assistance Opportunity

Once again, NIWRC is pleased to announce the availability of on-site technical assistance to tribal domestic violence programs and shelters. NIWRC has funding to provide up to three days of direct technical assistance to four (4) tribal locations.  Please note that technical assistance is different than training.  NIWRC defines technical assistance as,

“…a range of activities designed to assist in problem-solving and build individual and organizational capacity to: 1) improve practice, including related to the provision of direct services to victims; 2) engage in policy analysis and enhance systems or institutional level response; 3) raise public awareness and/or mobilize prevention activities; 4) support research; or 5) any other aspect of intervention or prevention efforts.”

On-site technical assistance is available on a wide spectrum of topics (just to name a few):

  • Safety and Confidentiality
  • Program and Staff Development
  • Shelter Development and Housing
  • Trauma-informed Care
  • Creating Community Partnerships
  • Community Organizing, Community Awareness and Education
  • Intersections of Domestic Violence/Mental Health/Substance Abuse
  • Intersections of Domestic Violence/HIV/AIDS, Health Care and Domestic Violence
  • Prevention and Intervention
  • Understanding Policy
  • Technology
  • Research Issues, Data Collection and Program Evaluation

 

This technical assistance is an outstanding opportunity to build tribal capacity to respond to domestic violence, strengthen advocacy and improve services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence and sex trafficking. FVPSA tribal grantees are strongly encouraged to apply.
