Promoting Access and Inclusion for All Our Relatives

-

Please join the Tribal Safe Housing Center, a project of the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, for a discussion on the experiences and needs of Native survivors with disabilities, as well as the requirements and best practices for programs that serve them. As we approach the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, we will explore the Act and related laws and policies that address the civil rights and accessibility needs of people with disabilities.

We will also discuss how these laws intersect with Tribal sovereignty and Tribal housing programs. Native survivors with disabilities face layered vulnerabilities when seeking safe, stable lives for themselves and their families. This discussion will elevate the rights and resources available for people with disabilities and offer guidance for housing and service providers working to improve access and support.
