Annette Scalpcane

Accountant

Pêhévešeëva! Váno’eméóná’e Náhéševehe! (Good Day! My name is Sage Road Woman)

Greetings to you. I extend a warm hand shake to you all. My name is Annette Scalpcane, I am a mother of three wonderful children. I married my high school sweetheart Tiger Scalpcane and 5 months ago we were blessed with a granddaughter Kashlyn Amaya who is the new sunshine in our life. Our family is very active in just about everything, pow-wow singing and dancing, rodeo, basketball, soccer, football, track, cultural ceremonies, and lending a hand to family when needed. This keeps me very busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. My maternal lineage is Northern Cheyenne and little bit of Irish. My great grandfather Patrick Spotted Wolf was a member of the Chiefs Council of 44. My paternal lineage is Crow and where I am member of the Whistling Water clan.

Most of my career has been here on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation working for my tribe. I obtained my Associates of Arts degree from Chief Dull Knife College and went on to Rocky Mountain College where I worked towards my Business Management degree. My previous position of 2 years was Staff Accountant for the Central Finance Department primarily working with Federal grants. And prior to that was for the tribal justice system as the Clerk of Court for 3 years, and worked in the Prosecutors office for 6 years wearing many hats but learning valuable experience as a DV Prosecutor, DV Investigator, DV Legal Advocate, and DV Advocate. Domestic Violence prevention is a passion to not only to me but to my husband as well, whom is the director of the local tribal Domestic Violence Program, Healing Hearts. Awareness is essential to stop the cycle.

I am excited to be a part of the NIWRC as the Administrative Assistant. It is my goal to learn and assist in anyway possible and to help implement the goals of NIWRC. The commitment this organization has to make a positive change in Indian Country is so inspiring.
